Elizabeth and Matt's wedding was the first of our 2019 summer weddings. June 1st, 2019 was a beautiful, bright sunshine day filled with laughter, joy and love. The sky was clear and trees were starting to really stretch their branches and leaves out. We met Elizabeth early in the morning at Halo's Salon in LaPorte, MN. and were greeted by some of her bridesmaids. Elizabeth was beaming from ear to ear and looked like a bride ready to marry her groom. Here is a little bit of their love story.
How our Bride and Groom met:
"The first time we ever saw each other was on a trail out grouse hunting. We had mutual friends dating and Joe called Matt to come get a tree out from the trail so we could get by since the four wheel drive was not working in his truck. Matt shows up - not with a hatchet, saw, or chainsaw but with a shotgun and the boys commence with shooting the downed tree until it's weakened enough to be kicked free and drug off the trail. The first time we actually met, my friend and I were out visiting Joe's place and left for a bit because he had some other company. My friend and I went exploring at a cabin close by that Joe told us we could hang out at for a bit instead of driving all the way back to town. We waited and had a few adult beverages and used a hatchet to chop some small wood to have a camp fire. The hatchet was handily stored in Elizabeth's back belt loop after use, where it got stuck! We got bored and decided to go for a walk so with the hatchet in the belt loop and a case of beer in the left hand and a cold open beverage in the right it was time to start walking. As we rounded a curve in the road a pickup came into view and who else do you know would see two females walking in the middle of nowhere, down a dirt road, with a hatchet and a case of beer and think it was a good idea to stop and pick them up? Matt of course!"
"One day short of our 5 year dating anniversary Matt and I decided to go for a wheeler ride. We were going to head up to Spikes to pick up a sweatshirt we had purchased. We ended up taking the same trail that we had first seen each other on 5 years earlier. Matt stopped right where the tree was down over the trail and asked me to get his sunglasses out of the glove box of the wheeler, when I opened it, a small white box fell out and landed in my lap. Brad Paisley's "A Perfect Storm" was playing in the background which Matt had always said reminded him of me when I opened the box and he asked if I would marry him."
Elizabeth was escorted down the aisle by her mother and father's best friend with special charms attached to her bouquet in remembrance of her father. Elizabeth and Matt tied the knot in front of friends and family in a valley by a big, beautiful pond on their farm. After the "I do's", dinner followed in their beautifully decorated barn and cake cutting. We ran up to Elizabeth and Matt's farm to get their wedding party favors from their fridge........Homemade Maple Syrup!! A few of Elizabeth's kids decided it was a good time for a photo shoot. Once the Bridal Party was rounded up...... a pit stop was made in Whipholt at a rest stop that over looks the magnificent Leech Lake. The Bride, Groom, Bridal Party and Guests all made their way over to the grounds of Moondance to dance the night away at the Lazy Moon Backstage Bar.
We can't thank Elizabeth and Matt enough for the honor and privilege of allowing us to capture their beautiful day and family. We wish this beautiful couple a lifetime of happiness, laughter, love and many blessings.
