On Friday, June 28th, I finally got to capture an engagement session in a place that has rested only in my dreams. Yes, I've been to Minnesota's famed North Shore more times than I could being to count but usually with family or my husband. My images have always consisted of the Split Rock Lighthouse, Duluth's Lift Bride, Gooseberry Falls, the Bay of Grand Marais and of course moose. On this particular trip though, I got to capture Jessica & Derek's engagement session.
It had rained quite a bit the night before and sprinkled some in the morning. Fog would come and go on our drive to meet Jessica and Derek at Gooseberry Falls. The weather was warm and the sun was bright but we also got to watch the fog roll in out during their session. What makes this couple so special? Derek is my second cousin and his bride to be is nothing short of spectacular. Yes, he really is THAT tall and yes, she is really THAT gorgeous.
We were able to sneak in another session the following day as they had come to Grand Rapids to celebrate Derek's Grandmother's birthday for the weekend. I had spotted some beautiful daisy fields earlier in the week and thought it would be the perfect for these two. We finished at one of my favorite places, the Forest History Center.
I am so excited to have Jessica become part of the family and to capture their wedding next September!
